A little history...<\/h2>

Le\u00a0ch\u00e2teau de l'Hermine<\/strong>Vannes Castle, a historic monument located in Vannes town centre, was built in the 14th century at the request of Duke Jean IV of Brittany. This fortified castle, set within the city walls, boasts a majestic garden: the\u00a0rampart garden<\/a><\/strong>. From the end of 15th<\/sup>\u00a0century, the\u00a0ch\u00e2teau de l'Hermine<\/strong>\u00a0becomes the main residence of\u00a0Dukes of Brittany<\/strong>. Partly destroyed during the reign of Louis XIII, the castle was then sold by Louis XIV to the town of Vannes. In 1784, Julien Lagorce bought the castle and demolished its two ruined towers to build a hotel-restaurant, hence the other name given to the monument: l'hotel Lagorce<\/strong>which closed its doors in 1803. From the 19thth<\/sup>\u00a0In the 19th century, the former ch\u00e2teau was used for a variety of functions: artillery school, headquarters of the Morbihan General Treasury, law school, etc. Today, the\u00a0ch\u00e2teau de l'Hermine<\/strong>\u00a0hosts various\u00a0temporary exhibitions<\/strong>\u00a0It's well worth the diversions!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

La\u00a0Conn\u00e9table Tower<\/strong>a superb vestige of the Middle Ages<\/h2>

La\u00a0Conn\u00e9table Tower<\/strong>located to the north of the old castle, takes its name from the medieval period. In fact, the tower built at the beginning of the 15th<\/sup>\u00a0century was first and foremost the home of the head of the armies of the\u00a0Duke of Brittany<\/strong>who was known as the \"conn\u00e9table\". The name of the tower pays tribute to the Constable and Duke Arthur III of Brittany, also known as the \"Constable de Richemont\".<\/p>

At 18th<\/sup>\u00a0During the French Revolution, the tower was converted into a prison. A century later, it was bought and became private property, before being purchased and restored by the town of Vannes in 1975.<\/p>
